What is Sniper Shooting Academy?
Sniper Shooting Academy is a facility located inside of Future Stars Arena strictly dedicated to developing a player’s shooting technique, velocity, accuracy, release time and improving overall goal scoring creativity. Our state-of-the-art one of a kind facility features leading edge training technology not available at any other shooting facility. What is the concept? NEW & IMPROVED!!! (if you liked the program before you love it even more!!!)
The Sniper concept is to provide intense “circuit training” for shooting. Players will be separated into 4 small groups and using a buzzer system will rotate through 4 zones working on specific shooting exercises. Each zone will have a different shooting/scoring theme. In an average class a player will shoot in excess of 250 pucks! All training is done on “real ice” with the exception of Rapid Shot (Zone 3) which is on synthetic ice.
How does the program work?
Your full team (15 players + 2 goalies) will train at the same time and be split up into 4 small groups and trained in 4 different themed shooting zones. Players will be grouped according to their position and level and type of shot (left or right). This enables our staff to work on the shooting skills related to the position of the player. For example a Defensemen should work on developing a power shot from the point, while a Forward should work on a quick release wrist from the top of the crease. A standard class is a minimum of 50 minutes long. For rates please click here

What are the three training Zones? |
| .... ZONE 1 - 3000ft2 “Real Ice” Studio Arena
|
Students in ZONE 1 will utilize our largest studio arena or half of Rink #2 which will allow our staff to teach players position-specific game situation shooting skills. (ex. Defense learning to pick the puck off the boards and taking a shot while being forced at the point...) This zone will be an application of all other zones. 4 to 5 players will practice in this zone with 1 instructor. For rates please click here

| .... ZONE 2 - Virtual Goalie & Target Simulator on "real ice" |
|
|
|
Players in ZONE 2 will focus on shooting accuracy, increasing velocity and developing their goal scoring touch. There are 3 different modules in this zone. In module one player’s will shoot on a computer-generated goalie that will react to every shoot to make the appropriate saves. The goalies skill level can be set from beginner to pro level. In module 2 players will shoot on strategically placed targets similar to the NHL skills competition. In module 3 players will shoot at a virtual radar gun that will assess the player’s shooting velocity. After the player has completed all three modules the shooting software program will analyze every shot taken and provide instant feedback of the players performance. The player will than be ranked and all scores will be automatically sent to the students on line profile that can be checked by parents and coaches! 2 to 3 players will practice in this zone. - Number of shots taken
- The velocity of each shot
- The number of goals scored or targets hit
- An overall score
- After the hockey simulation session, a report summary is displayed that includes:
- A graphic display of all the shots taken, their location, and their result (goal or no goal).
-
A summary scoreboard as above for both the "Shooting on the goaltender" session and "Target shooting"

.... ZONE 3 - Rapid Shot on “Synthetic Ice” |

Players in ZONE 3 will stand 23 feet from a regulation-sized hockey net and receive passes from the rapidshot-passing machine. As the player receives the pass one of four targets lights up on the net regulation size net. As soon as the puck is released and hits the net, reaction time, puck speed and accuracy are measured and displayed on a monitor. The pucks are automatically collected by the machine, which allows the player to continuously fire one puck after another. All shot speeds and scores are sent to the player’s on-line profile that can be tracked by the coaching staff, parents and players. The RapidShot formula calculates a value from reaction time, puck speed and accuracy, also taking into consideration the adjustable pass speed and pass interval. 2 to 3 players will practice in this zone. All types of shots will be taught including the snap shot, wrist shot, slap shot, backhand and one-time shot. In addition to developing a shooting arsenal, players will also work on deking skills and specialty goal scoring techniques. 4 to 5 players will practice in this zone with 1 instructor.
