Sniper Shooting Academy
Sniper Shooting Academy is a facility located inside of Future Stars Arena strictly dedicated to developing a player’s shooting technique, velocity, accuracy, release time and improving overall goal scoring creativity. Our state-of-the-art one of a kind facility features leading edge training technology not available at any other shooting facility. Unlike other shooting facilities that utilize "plastic" or "synthetic ice" at Sniper Shooting Academy all training is done on "real ice"! (excluding "rapid shot")

How does the program work?
The concept is to provide intense “circuit training” for shooting. During a session players will be rotate through 3 zones spending approximately 17 minutes in each zone working on specific shooting exercises. Each zone will have a different shooting/scoring theme and will have one instructor teaching in each zone. In an average class a player will shoot in excess of 275 pucks! All training is done on “real ice” with the exception of Rapid Shot (Zone 3) which is on synthetic ice.
Students in ZONE 1 will be taught proper shooting technique including stance, body posture, weight transfer, stick control, puck positioning and follow through. Our expert instructors will systematically break down each shot and provide correction and feedback. All types of shots will be taught including the snap shot, wrist shot, slap shot, backhand and one-time shot. In addition to developing a shooting arsenal, players will also work on deking skills and specialty goal scoring techniques.
Players in ZONE 2 will focus on shooting accuracy, increasing velocity and developing their goal scoring touch. There are 3 different modules in this zone. In module one player’s will shoot on a computer-generated goalie that will react to every shoot to make the appropriate saves. The goalies skill level can be set from beginner to pro level. In module 2 players will shoot on strategically placed targets similar to the NHL skills competition. In module 3 players will shoot at a virtual radar gun that will assess the player’s shooting velocity. After the player has completed all three modules the shooting software program will analyze every shot taken and provide instant feedback of the players performance. One group (3 players) will practice in this zone with one instructor.
During the player/user session, the hockey simulator system's scoreboard displays the following data:
The average velocity of all shots
Players in ZONE 3 will stand 23 feet from a regulation-sized hockey net and receive passes from the rapidshot-passing machine. As the player receives the pass one of four targets lights up on the net regulation size net. As soon as the puck is released and hits the net, reaction time, puck speed and accuracy are measured and displayed on a monitor. The pucks are automatically collected by the machine, which allows the player to continuously fire one puck after another. All shot speeds and scores are sent to the player’s on-line profile that can be tracked by the coaching staff, parents and players. The RapidShot formula calculates a value from reaction time, puck speed and accuracy, also taking into consideration the adjustable pass speed and pass interval. One group (3 players) will practice in this zone with 1 instructor.
